Application for an ROI License
What is ROI?
ROI stands for Right of Interment or Right of Inurnment. The first is any burial in the ground and the second is for placement in the Columbaria. Note, for main cemetery site Licensees, they may bury an urn of ashes in the grounds of their site, and event though this is an urn, it is still consiered an interment.
Why a License?
A License reserves the selected gravesite for your use. It cannot be used without your permission. If the site remains unused after 50 years, the site automatically reverts to Walker Chapel and the license is cancelled.
What is a Co-Licensee?
Most gravesites are intended for multiple burials. If the primary Licensee dies, the license authority continues automatically with the co-licensee. If none, you may leave the page blank and move to the next page. This is most often used to pass the site to the next generation without reverting to specific language in the deceased’s will.
What is a Backup Contact?
The cemetery always needs a living contact when issues develop regarding a site…mostly maintenence such as cleaning, broken stones, or damage. This may be decades after the site has been used and its care has become the responsibility of the next generation.
What is the Process?
First, meet with the cemetery staff to discuss your needs and questions. Together then select the site you would like to license. Review the cemetery guide for the section and the pricing. Once you are comfortable in moving forward, it is then time to apply for your ROI License.
