Right Side of the Main Cemetery
on Becoming Part of the Cemetery
This is about the right-hand side of the main cemetery running from the grassy lane in the middle of the cemetery to Old Glebe Road and from the playground to the tree line. There is a scattering of important graves in this area but it has always felt separate from the main cemetery and it was under the shadow of an ugly, rusting fire escape.
Now the fire escape is gone and plans have been made to remove the visual barrier between the left and right sides of the main cemetery. In place of the fire escape is a huge white cross dominating this soon-to-be jewel of the cemetery.
