Historic Preservation
The Walker Chapel Historic Cemetery has been a place of remembrance, community, and reflection for over 150 years. Its history is a testament to the individuals who stood out for their leadership and the groups whose fellowship and compassion shaped our shared story. Today, the Chapel Cemetery Crew continues this legacy by lovingly caring for the trees, gardens, and the graves of over 600 souls who rest here.
But historic preservation is about more than safeguarding the past—it’s about envisioning the future. How will the congregation 150 years from now view our stewardship? Will they see us as good caretakers of this sacred space? Will they recognize our efforts to improve the grounds and services for the community? Will they have the financial resources they need because of our commitment today?
Past, present, and future—this is the story of historic preservation at Walker Chapel. It’s a story we write together, one act of care at a time.
